YK Steel’s history began almost half a century ago in the late 1950s with the foundation of its predecessor Kukdong Steel Industry, during a difficult time for the fledgling steel industry in Korea. The years of turbulence led the company to undergo changes as Kumho Industry, then Hanbo Iron & Steel, after which the company finally became YK Steel in December 2002 and embarked on its endeavor to make history.
Amid the rapid changes of the corporate environment, it is now more important than ever to maintain the spirit of challenge and innovation in order to create new value. United under a brand new paradigm, all executives and staff at YK Steel will firmly drive the pursuit of change, innovation, and enhanced corporate competitiveness, in order to develop YK Steel into an industry stalwart capable of withstanding any change in the market environment.
